December 18, 2005: Dr. Robert Frank Visited Tsinghua and CPUMS
Beijing, China – December 18 – 23, 2005, Dr. Robert Frank, Dean of
College of Public Health and Health Professions of the University of
Florida, visited Tsinghua University and the Capital University of
Medical Sciences. Dean Frank discussed with the Administrators of
the local universities about the logistics of establishing a joint
education program in Public Health Management.
December 18, 2005: Meeting with Beijing Olympic Organizing Committee
Beijing, China – December 18 – 23, 2005, Dr. Dan Connaughton and Dr.
James Zhang, both professors of the Department of Tourism,
Recreation and Sport Management of College of Health and Human
Performance of the University of Florida, visited Beijing. They met
with colleagues at Tsinghua University, the Beijing Olympic
Organizing Committee, and the City Government offices. They
discussed the possibility for UF students to volunteer for the 2008
Olympic Games and establishing joint education programs in Tourism
Management, Sport Management and Volunteer Training.
December 18, 2005: Undergraduate Education Discussion with Peking
and Tsinghua University
Beijing, China – December 18 – 23, 2005, Dr. Brian Ray, Director of
Undergraduate Education of the College of Business Administration of
the University of Florida, visited Beijing. He had meetings with
colleagues at the School of Continuing Education of Tsinghua
University and the school of distance learning of Peking University.
He discussed the possibility of establishing joint undergraduate
degree programs in Business Administration.

Zhengzhou, China - December 8 - 9, 2005, Dr. Ian
Tebbett, Associate Dean of Distance Education of the University of
Florida, visited the Zhengzhou University and the Sias International
University. He discussed with the administrators of the local
schools about the possibility of collaborations.
December 07, 2005: Forensic Sciences Program Agreement Reached
Beijing, China - December 7, 2005, Dr. Ian
Tebbett, Associate Dean of Distance Education of the Univerity of
Florida visited the Capital University of Medical Sciences. He
discussed with his Chinese Counterparts about the logistics for
establishing a joint education program in Forensic Sciences. An
agreement has been reached to jointly develop a Forensic Sciences
Program in China.
December 01, 2005: Cooperation Agreement Signed with the Capital
University of Medical Sciences
Beijing, China - December 1, 2005, The Capital
University of Medical Sciences and the University of Florida have
singed an agreement of Cooperation. The two schools will develop
joint programs for faculty and student exchange, joint research, and
joint education programs.
October 15, 2005: Alumni
Reception Held
Beijing, China- October 15, 2005: 2005 Alumni Reception (Beijing)
held today, with about 20 alumni of University of Florida
participated in the reception. Dr. Pramod Khargonekar, Dean of
College of Engineering, and Ms. Barbara Miles, Associate Vice
President for Development University of Florida Foundation, attended
the meeting and made speeches at the reception.
August 28, 2005:
Cooperative Agreements Reviewed
Beijing, China-August 28 – September 2, 2005: Dr. Robert Frank, Dean
of College of Public Health and Health Professions, University of
Florida, visited Beijing, whose journey was arranged by the Center
for International Studies. Dean Frank had a series of meetings with
the administrators of Peking Union Medical College, Peking
University Health Science Center, China Center for Disease Control
and Prevention, Capital University of Medical Sciences, and Tsinghua
University, respectively. Dean Frank discussed with his Chinese
counterparts about the opportunities of collaboration, ranging from
exchange of scholars and students to the possibility of jointly
delivering educational programs in China.
August 26, 2005:
Leadership Development Seminar
Beijing, China-August 26 – 31, 2005: Dr. James Knight, Dean of
College of Continuing Education, and Mr. Ron Kirsch, Director of
Leadership Development Institute, University of Florida, visited
Beijing. During the journey, Dean Knight visited Tsinghua
University, School of Online Education of Peking University, and
China National Office for Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language. He
discussed the opportunities for distance education, and joint
educational programs and the possibility of establishing a Confucius
Institute at the University of Florida, etc.
Director Kirsch gave a seminar on leadership development in Beijing
on August 30, 2005. His Leadership Development Modules and its
training courses attracted the audience’s interests.
August 26, 2005: Master of Forensics Program Talk with Chinese
Universities
Beijing, China- August 26 – 31, 2005: Dr. Ian Tebbett, Associate
Dean of College of Distance Learning, along with Ms. Linda Homewood,
Director of Public Relationship, University of Florida, visited
Beijing Forensic Analysis Center of the Ministry of Public Security,
PRC, Capital University of Medical Sciences, and School of Online
Education of Peking University.
June, 2005: Center
for International Studies Opened
Beijing, China- June 2005: Center for International
Studies, University of Florida Opened this month. The Center is the
first office set up by an American university in China.
